DC Projects is a company operating in the greater Johannesburg area, and no restriction as to where we can be of assistance. We work on the principle that no job ‘is too big or too small, we do them all. Our experience and knowledge covers a number of different areas in your home as well as your business.

References can be offered to show that quality, honesty and safety are key drivers in our business and we will always do what you require or offer alternatives based on our experience to meet your satisfaction. We do not charge for quotes and all work will be detailed for your reference and prior to the work commencing. Any extra work required during or after will either form a new quote or an addendum to the existing quote.

Based on our supplier base that we have built-up, we remain competitive in the market place with quality materials. It is the customer’s choice to what level of quality the work needs to be completed based on the choice and cost of material. The Handyman is growing into both the domestic as well as the commercial market with a name that will be around for a long time to come.

Safety to people, property and equipment does form the base of our operation. With the years of experience we have in the corporate environment, we know how important safety is to our people, environment and our brand.

About Us

  • Northcliff Trading (Pty) Ltd is a company that was started as far back October 2012 and first traded as Goodrich Auctioneers Johannesburg branch. As of the start of this year, a new company was born as The Handyman.

  • DC Projects is a small two-man business that started operating on 1 Feb’14. The company comprises only two people being Dan Canny as the owner and Welcome Moyo as the assistant.

  • Dan Canny has worked for two major companies, being Atlas Aircraft (now known as Denel) for ten years in the engineering department, and recently Shell South Africa in the Chemical Division for twenty-one years. Qualifications gained during this time has been a Trade Diploma as an Aircraft Technician, Mechanical Diploma, Marketing Diploma, Paint Technical Diploma and a Chartered Institute of Secretaries (Licentiate Status) Diploma. Most recently a Leadership course done through the Business School of the University of Stellenbosch.

  • Welcome Moyo has worked as an assistant handyman for the past six years and comes with extensive knowledge in a number of areas. Main areas of expertise are in painting, plumbing, and electrics. A helpful, willing, reliable, and honest worker.

  • DC Projects does have a network of people that it uses for the bigger or more specialized work such as:
    • Colin – along with his helper work extremely well with the removal of old tiles and the laying of new tiles. Again very reliable, honest and work well together. Quality and cleanliness are key performance indicators.
    • Patrick – a qualified electrician for low voltage circuits and who can do new installations and is qualified to issue COC’s on completion of the work. DC Projects has already completed a number of basic electrical work and used Patrick for the more specialised work.
    • Phillip Kgatle – he owns his own paving business and again works extremely well and very proud of his work. The Handyman and Phillip have worked together with great success and utmost customer satisfaction on various paving jobs.
    • Vaughn MacMullen – a long time acquaintance of Dan Canny and has his own plumbing business that will assist where needed and qualified to issue COC’s for the plumbing. Basic plumbing work is carried out by The Handyman.

  • DC Projects is growing into both the domestic as well as the commercial market with a name that will be around for a long time to come.

Safety

Dan Canny has worked in the aviation industry, where quality and safety have been the key drivers for working. Generally going the extra mile and checking more than what is required to ensure that the work is done correctly. By checking more than what is required is a proactive step to preventing further problems and key criteria for reducing long term maintenance issues. The lessons learned while working in the chemical industry has entrenched all the principles around Health, Safety, and the Environment. The combination of the two industries forms a sound base to run a handyman business and to ensure compliance with the OSH Act.

HSE
The Handyman is a company that always strives to comply with the Health, Safety, and Environmental standards to ensure the protection of employees, customers, and third parties. The net result is a focus on the protection of the brand/s of major companies.

PPE
Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times to ensure that there are no injuries to employees. Key criteria when working for medium to large companies and protecting the brand and image in the market place.

Compliance
Based on the knowledge and experience gained over the years with the importance
and protection of a brand or logo, The Handyman will comply with all company’s
safety standards to ensure their brand and their customer’s reign supreme.

Quality Audits
Dan Canny has undertaken special training and qualified to carry out ISO 9000 quality audits. Coupled with the above qualification, training has been completed to carry out customer site audits to ensure compliance with the supplier’s Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
